Sydney is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work currently draws inspiration from dreamy skies, wispy clouds, and birds. Her paintings seek to evoke a sense of calm and comfort in her viewers.

Sydney feels most at ease when she's looking up in the sky and is enraptured by the way the colors of the sky melt together and the way airy clouds dissipate and reform. While Sydney sometimes pulls from a reference photo, she aims to primarily paint intuitively and let the scene unfold on the canvas. Sydney has a great appreciation for abstract art and her paintings, while they depict real life concepts like clouds and birds, aren't meant to be strictly based in reality. There is an aspect of ethereal-ism and magic that Sydney aims to imbue in her paintings.

Sydney is intrigued by the way birds move together amongst the sky. Sydney feels deeply and feels a deep connection and understanding of animals. When she paints birds she imagines how each bird may be feeling as they soar amongst their peers- how it must feel to be at the back trying to keep up, or how safe it feels to be near the center, or how freeing it would feel to be leading/racing in the front. Sydney is in awe of the beautiful shapes that emerge from murmurations, and appreciates how much beauty there is to find in the accidental/imperfectness of nature.

Sydney loves to find and appreciate the beauty in the unintentional, messy, lived in moments of life and nature. This translates to her painting process for these sky paintings, where she paints from the soul, without too much intention or conscious decision.

Sydney grew up on Long Island, NY before moving to NYC to pursue a career in technology as a software engineer. Sydney expresses her creativity and grounds through painting, drawing, digital (iPad) art, interior design, and polymer clay.
